HISTORY

Innovative Insurance Solutions, Inc. (IISI) originally was formed in 1990 in southern California by a founder with more than 20 years of underwriting experience for some of the largest insurers and reinsurers.  We relocated to northern Nevada in 1994 and commenced operations in 1995 with a continued focus on transportation risks.  Over the years, we have expanded our offerings to include P&C coverages for a wide variety of business classes and operations.

SERVICES

Underwriting

IISI's underwriting approach, which focuses on the fundamentals, is used in both hard and soft markets on our in-house transportation programs.  IISI collects a complete set of data from prospective insureds. Particular attention is paid to loss information, which is organized and then stratified. All prospective insureds are rated using ISO manual loss cost rates as a base. From that point, the underwriter can modify the rate as warranted by the length and quality of the loss history, as well as other relevant factors.  Another key factor utilized in predicting future performance is the quality of the driving records.  MVR data is quantitatively analyzed and scored, and then an overall qualitative rank is assigned.

Risk Management

Sources of risk are identified as part of the underwriting process, prior to binding a new risk.  After being bound, risks are analyzed further and, as appropriate, a report is generated.  Depending on the size and type of risk, various methods to collect information are used, including telephone interviews, reviewing source documents and on-site visits.

Claims

The primary service that IISI performs is acting as a liaison between the parties.  IISI’s involvement provides value added to the insurer by encouraging timely and accurate reporting of claims by the insureds.  IISI assists the TPA by fostering the cooperation of the insured.  IISI protects the insured by reviewing payment amounts—especially when the insured has a retention at stake.

LICENSING

IISI's resident state is Nevada.  In addition to Nevada, IISI has individual and/or corporate non-resident licenses in more than 40 other states, as well as the District of Columbia.  Our primary lines of licensure are Property and Casualty, and we are licensed for Life and Health in many states, as well.  Additionally, we are licensed for Surplus Lines in more than 20 states. We also have two licensed Adjusters as part of our team.
